Thief sentenced to 7 years in prison for stealing 450 gold coins from elderly woman

In Greece’s Lamia region, a 51-year-old man was sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing 450 gold coins from the storage room of an 85-year-old woman. The theft occurred in December 2017 and was discovered in January 2018. The thief was apprehended during an operation conducted in Lamia.

Court Proceedings and Final Sentence
Initially, the man received a seven-year prison sentence. However, he was released on bail after appealing the verdict and paying a €5,000 deposit. Following a review by the Lamia Court of Appeals, the sentence was upheld, and the thief was sent to Dromokou Prison to serve his term.

During the investigation, authorities discovered 50 gold coins and several firearms at the thief’s residence. The incident highlights the persistence of law enforcement in resolving such cases and ensuring justice for victims.
