A 15-year-old boy has been detained in the Greek city of Messolonghi following allegations of systematic bullying and racist harassment targeting a 13-year-old foreign student. Authorities also arrested the teenager’s father on charges related to the alleged failure to adequately supervise a minor.
According to police sources, the suspect is accused of threatening, insulting, and harassing the younger student through social media platforms over the past month. Investigators allege that the abuse was not limited to online communication and continued in areas around the victim’s school and at various locations throughout the city.
The case file reportedly includes allegations of bodily harm, threats, and insults, while investigators are also examining whether the incidents were motivated by racial prejudice.
Father Also Faces Charges
As part of the investigation, the suspect’s father was taken into custody and charged with neglecting his parental supervision responsibilities. Greek authorities allege that he failed to exercise the necessary oversight of his son's conduct.
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation is being conducted by the Juvenile Crime and Criminal Investigation Unit of the Messolonghi Police Department. Officials stated that all aspects of the case remain under review.
The incident has drawn attention to growing concerns over bullying among school-age children, particularly cases involving online harassment and discriminatory behavior. Authorities and child protection advocates continue to call for stronger measures to address youth violence and cyberbullying.
