Stormy week ahead for Greece with heavy rain and strong winds
Greece is bracing for a spell of severe weather beginning Monday, as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are set to sweep across much of the country.
According to the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the most affected areas will include Thessaly, Epirus, western Macedonia, and the Ionian Islands, where downpours and gusty winds may cause local flooding and travel disruptions.
Temperatures will remain relatively mild — around 20°C in Athens — but widespread rainfall and unsettled conditions are expected to persist through midweek. The storm system signals the onset of a wetter-than-usual November, a month that typically records up to eight days of rain.
Authorities are urging citizens to stay informed about updated forecasts, avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm periods, and take precautions to protect homes and property from potential flooding.
