Security and armed forces on high alert for potential flooding from "ATENA" storm

Security and Armed Forces are on high alert to address potential flooding impacts from the severe storm "ATENA."

In a coordination meeting held on Monday under Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vasilis Kikilias it was decided that the Fire Brigade will deploy EMAK units with boats to assist citizens if they become trapped in affected areas. Additionally, the Fire Brigade will be on standby for water pumping operations.

According to sources from Civil Protection, the Armed Forces along with the Coast Guard and the Hellenic Police will also be prepared to assist citizens and manage traffic. Earlier, the Scientific Risk Assessment Committee convened to evaluate the situation.
