With a significant decrease in plague cases across Greece, restrictions on the movement of sheep and goats are expected to be lifted in the coming days.
Nikos Fotinias, Director of Veterinary and Agricultural Economics, announced that the restrictive measures implemented since the outbreak began have proven effective. Fotinias noted that no new cases of the plague have been reported in the regions of Rhodope and Drama, suggesting that the containment efforts in these areas were successful.
"The preventive measures in Rhodope and Drama have worked, keeping the spread of the virus under control with no new cases reported. Within the next ten days, we expect to lift the restrictive measures on the confinement, movement, and transportation of animals," Fotinias stated.
