Police intervenes against farmers who wanted to close the border with North Macedonia
According to national media reports, farmers, who have been protesting against the government's agricultural policy for about a month, tried to close the border with North Macedonia to trucks for two hours with their tractors.
Farmers, who have at times resisted security forces in protests across the country, are planning a large demonstration with tractors in the capital Athens this week.
Kostas Tzelas, President of the Farmers' Union of Karditsa Palama, told reporters that the government was playing games with farmers and that they would strengthen their protests.
Celas stated that if their demands were not met, they would organise a demonstration in Athens with their tractors.
On the other hand, after the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis and farmers' representatives yesterday, the government decided to reduce the price of electricity used in agriculture.
