The Parliamentary Ethics Committee has voted in favor of lifting the legal immunity of SYRIZA MPs Pavlos Polakis and Elena Akrita, allowing lawsuits filed against them to move forward.

Polakis faces a defamation and false accusation lawsuit filed by independent MP Athina Linou, related to her involvement with a preventive medicine institute.

According to reports, during the closed-door committee session, Polakis noted that he had filed a lawsuit against Linou two months before she filed hers, yet his case file has not been forwarded to Parliament.

SYRIZA, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), and Greek Solution abstained from the vote, while all other parties voted in favor lifting the immunity

Akrita’s case concerns a lawsuit filed by Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis after she shared a social media post implying his involvement in the case of the pimping of a 12-year-old girl from Kolonos.
