According to the new traffic law, it is forbidden to drive with coats and jackets. It is mandatory to have chains in the vehicle. Fines will be increased for violations such as wrongful overtaking, drunk driving and exceeding the speed limit.

According to the new traffic law regulation submitted for consultation in the relevant parliamentary commissions, driving with a coat and jackets will be prohibited. Those who violate the ban will be fined 100 euros.

According to the new law, it will also be mandatory to have chains in the vehicle.

Speaking to OPEN TV about the new traffic law draft, Athens Police Association representative Nikos Rigas said, “The new traffic law does not give detailed information about the shape and size of the coats and jackets. However, obviously, the driver should be dressed in a way that he can move left and right easily, turn and not hinder him. For example, a person wrapped in a blanket cannot drive.” he said.

Saying that he believes the new traffic law, which is currently in consultation, will be approved quickly and can be implemented even by the end of the year, Rigas also envisages increasing the fines for some traffic rule violations that can result in death, such as wrong overtaking, drunk driving and speeding.

Rigas reminded that it is mandatory to have chains in vehicles.
