New platform allows Greeks to correct land registry errors without court proceedings

LAND REGISTRY NEARS COMPLETION BY END OF 2025
Greece’s National Cadastre project is entering its final phase, with completion targeted by the end of 2025. The initiative aims to resolve the majority of pending issues, finalize land registration in remaining regions — including Corfu, Thesprotia, and Crete — and digitize archives previously managed by mortgage offices.
ONLINE PLATFORM FOR PROPERTY CORRECTIONS
As part of this effort, a new digital platform — metavoles.ktimatologio.gr — will launch on 10 May, enabling citizens to correct inaccuracies in property boundaries and records without going to court. This system significantly simplifies procedures, helping users avoid time-consuming and costly legal disputes.
STREAMLINED PROCESS FOR SIMPLE AND COMPLEX CASES
Through the platform, individuals will be able to correct basic errors or omissions in their property data by submitting documents such as ownership titles, E9 tax forms, inheritance declarations, court rulings, or topographical diagrams.
In more complex cases, such as geometric changes to property boundaries requiring neighbor approval, the process can still be completed digitally, provided there is mutual consent among all parties involved.
When online agreement is not possible, certified engineers will need to be consulted. These professionals will prepare and verify the required technical documentation, including topographical plans and reports, ensuring that updates are properly recorded in the Cadastre. The engineers' role will be crucial, and they will be subject to oversight by the Cadastre authority to maintain data quality and reliability.
