New Left intervention on grazing land, inspections, and changes in livestock numbers
According to the statement, New Left MPs refer to serious findings — including data from a document of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) — regarding the implementation of the “technical solution 2025” and the declaration of grazing land for subsidy purposes.
These findings reportedly include cases of livestock farmers from Crete who were allocated grazing land, through the so-called “technical solution,” in geographically distant areas from their actual place of activity, such as other islands or even the Peloponnese. This occurs despite repeated government assurances — including statements by the Minister of Rural Development himself — that the controversial “technical solution” and the phenomenon of “sheep and goats transported by ferry” had come to an end.
Based on these data, the New Left asks whether targeted administrative and on-site inspections have been carried out and whether the allocation of grazing land and corresponding rights are genuinely linked to actual milk and/or meat production.
The party also raises questions regarding grazing rights payments and recorded figures in Crete (tax identification numbers, number of livestock farmers, and declared livestock), as well as the reduction in livestock numbers in 2025 compared to 2024.
Additionally, it requests detailed data on how declared livestock numbers in OPEKEPE changed by Regional Unit across the country in 2025 compared to 2024. Clarifications are also sought regarding producers in Crete who did not submit a Single Aid Application (EAE) in 2025 despite having done so in 2024, their possible connection to National Reserve rights and declarations of private grazing land, as well as new EAE submissions in 2025 and any transfers of entitlements.
