Mitsotakis, Erdogan to meet in New York
Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis informed during his contact with the press on Monday (28/8).
The one-on-one meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and the President of Türkiye is to take place between September 18 and 20 in New York.
At the same time, Mr Marinakis announced that a High Council of Cooperation between Greece and Türkiye will be held in Thessaloniki at the end of 2023.
According to the government spokesman, it is considered important that initiatives in Greek-Turkish relations are taken at a time when Greece has been significantly strengthened in economic and geopolitical terms.
This was preceded by the agreement to upgrade the exploratory contacts at the level of the Foreign Ministry between George Gerapetritis and Hakan Fidan. According to the official statement of the Greek Foreign Ministry, "the two ministers will discuss issues related to bilateral relations, as well as regional developments".
The agenda of the meeting of the two men also includes the preparation of the High Cooperation Council.
