A kiosk located in front of the historic Kanlı Çeşme Mosque in Ioannina has been removed, following recent inspections.

According to media reports, the decision came after Culture Minister Lina Mendoni conducted an on-site evaluation in the area. Subsequently, teams affiliated with the Ioannina municipality dismantled the kiosk.

Officials stated that the kiosk disrupted the aesthetic integrity of the historic mosque and hindered ongoing restoration efforts. Inspections revealed that the presence of the kiosk was damaging the restoration process, making its removal necessary.

Authorities also noted that the restoration project is at an advanced stage and that the mosque is expected to be fully restored and reopened to the public within a few months.
