Just over half pass Greek citizenship exam, ministry says

Nearly half of the applicants seeking Greek citizenship were eliminated in the latest round of naturalization exams, Greece’s Interior Ministry announced Friday.
Out of 4,222 candidates who sat for the April 6 Certificate of Adequate Knowledge for Naturalization exam, only 2,136 passed, while 12 were disqualified for cheating, yielding a pass rate of just 50.74%.
The standardized test, required for non-Greek nationals applying for citizenship, evaluates knowledge of the Greek language, history, culture and civic life.
Successful candidates are urged to contact their local citizenship offices to move forward in the naturalization process.
The ministry congratulated the successful examinees, calling the exam a decisive first step toward acquiring Greek citizenship.
