A policeman was reportedly arrested on Thursday night after a police officer was seriously wounded in clashes during a volleyball match between Olimpiakos and Panathinaikos sports clubs.

In the news of the state television ERT, it was stated that an 18-year-old Greek citizen who injured the police officer on duty during the volleyball match between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos in the "Melina Mercury" indoor sports hall was detained.

It is stated in the news report that the young man, who is stated to be an Olimpiakos fan, confessed to his crime and gave information about the people who directed him for the attack, and that the health condition of the 31-year-old policeman, who was hit by a flare in his leg during the incidents, remains serious.

The decisions on the fight against hooliganism taken at an extraordinary meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office under the leadership of Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis with the participation of relevant ministers and officials are expected to be announced today.
