Hooded individuals attack former minister Makis Voridis in Crete restaurant

A group of around 25 hooded individuals attacked New Democracy MP and former minister Makis Voridis and his family while they were dining at a restaurant in Iraklion, Crete, on Saturday evening, according to a report by Kathimerini.

The assailants reportedly surrounded Voridis, throwing eggs, shouting insults, and chanting slogans against him. Police forces were dispatched to the scene and escorted the former minister and his family to safety. No injuries were reported, though the attackers caused damage to the restaurant.

Following the incident, Voridis posted on social media stating that he was in Crete on a private visit and claimed that the assailants belonged to the far left. He also noted that his 12-year-old daughter was present during the attack.

“Unfortunately, we still have a way to go before we uproot far-left violence,” Voridis said.
