New Democracy MP seeks immunity waiver over OPEKEPE case
Lakis Vasileiadis, a lawmaker for New Democracy representing Pella, has requested the lifting of his parliamentary immunity following his alleged mention in a case file linked to OPEKEPE.
In a public statement, Vasileiadis said the case file contains no evidence of wrongdoing on his part, noting that references to his name stem only indirectly from third-party conversations. He stressed he had no contact with individuals involved.
He added that the issue concerned a discussion about a possible extension for a livestock farmer’s inspection, which ultimately proceeded as scheduled without any extension, intervention, or subsidy granted.
Vasileiadis said he is seeking the waiver of his immunity to ensure full transparency and to allow the truth to emerge.
