Gunmen opened fire on a moving vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Nea Makri, East Attica, prompting a major police response.

According to the Hellenic Police (EL.AS), the attack took place shortly after 4 p.m. on Marathonos Avenue, where three men on foot fired multiple shots at a passing car before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Officers at the scene recovered seven shell casings and one 9mm cartridge.

Around 6 p.m., police sources said the targeted vehicle was located on Aeolidos Street in Dionysos and is believed to belong to a Turkish national.

The investigation has been taken over by the Organised Crime Division.
