Greek Red Cross launches donation appeal for wildfire victims
The organization is calling on citizens to contribute donations aimed at covering the immediate needs of people who have suffered losses due to the fires, offering several channels for financial assistance.
Donations can be made through a dedicated bank account at Eurobank under the beneficiary name "Hellenic Red Cross" with the reference "Wildfires." The organization has also provided contact numbers for further information.
Citizens can additionally support the relief effort through telephone donations by calling 19848. Calls from landlines are charged at €1.95, while mobile calls cost €2.05, including applicable taxes and fees.
Another option is sending an SMS containing the word "EES" to 19848. Each message costs €2.31, including VAT and mobile service charges.
The Hellenic Red Cross noted that certain mobile subscriber fees do not apply to eligible users aged 15 to 29 who are exempt, as well as prepaid mobile users for whom the relevant fee has already been paid during balance top-ups.
Financial contributions can also be made by bank card through the official website of the Hellenic Red Cross.
The organization urged citizens to provide support according to their ability and help those who have lost property or are facing urgent needs following the wildfires.
