Greece upgrades Gov.gr Wallet with real-time alerts and new features
Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance said on Wednesday that the Gov.gr Wallet application has been upgraded with three new features aimed at giving citizens greater control over their digital documents and simplifying everyday procedures.
Under the upgrade, users will now receive immediate notifications if their digital driving licence or digital identity stored in the Gov.gr Wallet is revoked, the ministry said in a statement.
Revocations may occur in several cases, including the withdrawal of a driving licence by police due to traffic violations or by the transport ministry as part of an administrative process. Digital identities are also revoked automatically once a loss is declared.
In such cases, a notification appears when the user opens the Gov.gr Wallet, allowing them to check which document has been revoked. Users may then attempt to re-add the document, while the application will indicate if this is not permitted.
The update also simplifies the process of adding documents through the automatic completion of one-time passwords (OTPs). With the user’s consent, the six-digit code sent via SMS is now filled in automatically, replacing the previous requirement for manual entry.
In addition, the Digital Card of the Public Employment Service (DYPA) is now updated in real time within the Gov.gr Wallet. The card displays the user’s unemployment status and includes a colour-coded indicator for clarity.
The card appears in green for unemployed individuals registered for up to 12 months without income criteria, as well as for those registered for more than 12 months who meet income thresholds for heating allowance eligibility. It appears in orange for long-term unemployed individuals who do not meet the relevant income criteria.
When the DYPA Digital Card is no longer valid, it is automatically removed from the Gov.gr Wallet without any action required by the user, the ministry said.
