Greece the most expensive country in Europe for dairy products

Greece stood out as the most expensive country for dairy products (milk, cheese and eggs) in 2023. According to data from the European Statistical Office Eurostat, prices in the dairy category in Greece were 38 per cent higher than the European Union (EU) average.
The prices of other basic foodstuffs such as oils and fats, bread and cereals were also above the EU average in Greece.
Greece is the fourth most expensive country in the EU in the category of oils and fats.
In Greece, meat (6.3%) and fruit and vegetable (14.1%) prices in 2023 were below the EU average.
Greece continues to be one of the most expensive countries in telecommunications, second only to Maybeça.
In Greece, which has lower prices in health and education services, food and accommodation continued to be relatively cheaper in 2023. Energy prices were also 7 per cent cheaper than the European average.
