In its reports, the EU border protection agency Frontex blamed Greece for the deaths of 4 irregular migrants in the Aegean Sea in 2022 "as a result of push-backs".

According to the news reflected in the Greek press, the reports published by the Frontex Fundamental Rights Monitor stated that Greece is responsible for the deaths of 4 irregular migrants in 2 of the push-back incidents in 2022.

It was claimed that the migrants who lost their lives were put on a Greek Coast Guard boat by masked persons after reaching the Greek islands and left at sea when they reached the border of Turkish territorial waters. It was noted that 4 of the 17 irregular migrants who were left at sea in two push-back incidents in the Aegean Sea in 2022 could not reach the Turkish coast and died.
