Famellos: SYRIZA will never be the convenient opposition to a right-wing, anti-popular government

The leader of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Sokratis Famellos, launched an attack on the government and the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in his first speech to the party’s Central Committee after his election.

He also made sharp remarks against the president of PASOK, Nikos Androulakis, and repeated the call for everyone to return to SYRIZA and join forces.

Famellos wanted to send the message that SYRIZA "is back on its feet, strong, united and is returning to the political scene."

As the president of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance noted, reality emphatically refutes Mitsotakis who says that everyday life is improving. "Citizens are anxious about their living conditions and the government celebrates tax cuts at the same time that the budget foresees an increase of 2.5 billion euros, 1.5 billion from indirect taxation. It also imposes 700 million euros in taxes on small and medium-sized enterprises," he underlined, adding that the government is covering up the profiteering.

Referring to PASOK, he said that "society does not need a consensual and painless opposition to the government."
