Falakro Ski Center opens in two weeks

The maintenance-repair contract for the two cable cars at Falakro Ski Center was signed.

It is stated that a total of 725 thousand euros will be spent for the maintenance and repair work of the two ropeways. It was noted that the firm that won the tender continued to work quickly.

In a statement to ERT, Drama State Vice President Grigoris Papaemmanul said repairs of the two lifts at the ski resort will be completed quickly. It was noted that the ski resort will host the Greek Biathlon Championship on March 12-13, and the "Snow leopard day" events to be held under the auspices of the General Secretariat of Sports of Greece between March 19-20.

Provincial Vice President Papaemmanuil said that the ski resort is now under the ownership of the East Macedonian Thrace Province and that the President Metios will mobilize all necessary means for the full operation of the canter.
It was noted that after the completion of all the necessary infrastructure and repairs, the tender will be transferred to the private sector to be operated.

The operating company which will win the tender will operate the ski center for at least 25-30 years.

Papaemmanuil also reminded that water drilling works that will enable artificial snow production in the region are also on the agenda. 

Mr. Papaemmanuil said, “Falakro Ski Resort is unique in East Macedonia and Thrace Region. If the center is properly operated and promoted, it will become an important center with 17 runways, where both local and foreign tourists can flock.

We, as East Macedonia and Thrace Province, will try to do everything possible we can for it.”
