According to national media reports, the European Commission has decided to provide EU member states with 258.9 million euros in extraordinary funding to combat irregular migration.

Greece has secured financing totalling 42.4 million euros for the two proposals submitted to the Commission and approved.

Greece was reported to have provided the "largest amount" of funding among the other member states.

On the other hand, in a report published by Doctors Without Borders on 1 November, it was emphasised that people seeking a better life in Europe were subjected to confiscation of their belongings, degrading treatment, physical violence and forced return practices by Greek authorities.

According to the news in TRT, in the report, which states that some irregular migrants were subjected to violence even before landing, an irregular migrant named Fatima said, "As soon as we entered Greek waters, a small, grey boat came towards us. A man dressed in black with a mask on his face jumped on our boat. He had a stick in his hand and started hitting everyone. Then he took the engine out and threw it into the water. We were left without an engine in the middle of the sea."
