Discovered body believed to be missing son of Larissa prosecutor

A body discovered in the Perachora site, on a remote and rugged hillside near the central Greece city of Tyrnavos, reportedly belongs to a missing 39-year-old local man.

Vassilis Kalogirou has been missing since Dec. 30, 2024. His disappearance achieved a greater degree of notoriety because he is the son of a top Larissa prosecutor involved in the ongoing Tempi rail collision investigation.

The clothing found on the body matched the type Kalogirou wore the last day he was seen. Prescription glasses recovered at the scene also appear to be a match for the missing man, as were keys in the pants.

Α DNA test is expected to conclusively determine whether body is that of Kalogirou, as the body was badly decomposed.

A preliminary evaluation by two coroners dispatched to the scene reportedly did not find evidence or signs of criminal wrongdoing.
