Dendias calls for law-based dialogue with Türkiye
Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias stated that Greece neither issues threats nor makes territorial claims, but will not remain silent when faced with challenges to its sovereignty and to international law.
Speaking in an interview with OPEN TV, Dendias stressed that Greece does not seek to revise existing arrangements, adding that any challenge directed at the country also constitutes a challenge to international law.
Referring to relations with Türkiye, the defence minister underlined that Greece remains open to dialogue, provided it takes place within the framework of international law. “If Türkiye wishes to find a solution in accordance with the law, Greece will be the first to extend a hand,” he said. However, he emphasized that solutions cannot be imposed through the use of force.
“The imposition of force presupposes a powerless party,” Dendias noted. “We are not powerless.”
