A 49-year-old bakery owner who died in a tragic workplace accident was laid to rest on Friday in Damasi, central Greece. The victim, identified as Zoe, lost her life on Thursday when her scarf became entangled in a dough mixer she was cleaning.

According to the medical examiner, the scarf tightened around her neck, causing fatal strangulation. She was found unresponsive early in the morning by a customer who arrived to buy bread.

Family and friends spoke of their shock, describing Zoe as a devoted mother of two and a hardworking professional who had run her bakery for nearly three decades. “We tried CPR, the paramedics came, but we couldn’t save her… A terrible moment,” a close family friend said.

Zoe’s aunt said she had been working alongside her sister shortly before the accident. After her sister left, Zoe continued preparing bread, still wearing a scarf due to neck pain. “She leaned over the mixer… It wasn’t long hair or anything like that,” her aunt noted.

The incident has deeply shaken the local community. Dozens gathered at the Church of Saint Tryphon to bid farewell to the much-loved baker.
