Average temperatures in Greece increase by 1.5°C between 1991, 2020

Greece, September 17, 2024 – According to a study published in the journal Atmosphere by the Hellenic Meteorological Service, average temperatures in Greece rose by over 1.5°C during the 30-year period from 1991 to 2020.
The study highlights that, while the average global temperature increased by 0.6 to 0.8°C during the same period, and Europe saw a 1.2°C rise, Greece experienced a more significant temperature increase. In Northern Greece, the temperature rise was even more pronounced, reaching up to 2°C.
This data underscores the region’s more rapid warming compared to global and European averages.
