Gale-force gusts were recorded in eastern mainland areas and the Aegean, according to meteo.gr, with five stations reporting wind speeds above 80 km/h.
The highest gust, 106.2 km/h, was measured on Mount Penteli in northeastern Attica.
Rainfall is forecast to begin in southern regions before spreading more widely.
Meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas said a weather system moving from southern Italy will drive worsening conditions from Saturday afternoon.
