Attack on Athens Administrative Court leaves damage, three arrested
The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday, when an estimated 10 to 15 attackers used sledgehammers, fire extinguishers and paint to vandalize the building’s main entrance, according to police sources.
Authorities launched an immediate operation, initially detaining 15 individuals. Three of them—women aged 23 and 25—were later formally arrested and charged with causing damage to property.
In a statement, the court strongly condemned the attack, reporting extensive damage, including shattered glass and paint thrown across the exterior. No injuries were reported.
The court said it is cooperating with authorities to identify those responsible and described the incident as a direct attack on justice and the rule of law. It stressed that such acts would not disrupt its operations, reaffirming its commitment to carrying out its duties independently.
Officials also called on the public to respect institutions and reject acts of violence that could undermine democratic stability.
