Athens taxi drivers call for 24-hour strike on February 19

The Athens Taxi Drivers Union (SATA) has announced a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, February 19, and is calling for support from the Panhellenic Federation and other taxi unions.

According to Kathimerini key demands include granting taxis access to bus lanes, addressing competition from rental car services with drivers and halting illegal discounts from Uber and Bolt.

SATA is also pushing for the enforcement of taxi contract regulations, a 33% increase in the minimum contract price, and the removal of specific provisions in the new tax law

The union further seeks to delay the mandatory zero-emission vehicle requirement for taxis until 2035.
