As of June 1, 8 cents tax will be paid on plastic bottles!

The government is implementing the law no. 4819/2021, which it has published, from 1 June. According to article 80 of the law, 8 cents tax will be paid on plastic bottles containing polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

In its statement on the subject, the Ministry of Commerce urged consumers to be careful when purchasing plastic bottle products. Pointing out that the said 8-cent tax will only be applied to bottles containing PVC, the ministry warned consumers that the said tax will not be charged on bottles that do not contain PVC.

The Ministry announced that the taxation of 8 cents is aimed at increasing the awareness of citizens about recycling.
