Unemployment drops to 8.3%, lowest in 17 years
The national unemployment rate fell to 8.3% in April, marking the lowest level recorded in 17 years, according to a recent government statement.
This significant improvement comes alongside progress in reducing labor market inequalities.
The statement, shared on social media, emphasized a steady downward trend:
“Unemployment is steadily declining, and with it, inequalities in the labour market: female unemployment fell to 10.8% from 13.6% last April, while youth unemployment dropped to 20.4% from 24.2%. We continue with more and better jobs for all.”
Last April, the overall unemployment rate stood at 10.8%, highlighting a sharp year-on-year improvement. The latest figures suggest continued recovery and inclusivity in job growth, especially among women and young people.
