Unemployment at 9% in March, ELSTAT says
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate amounted to 9.0% in March 2025 compared to 10.8% in March 2024 and 8.6% in February 2025.
The number of employed persons amounted to 4,280,078 persons, increased by 22,835 persons as compared with March 2024 (0.5%) and decreased by 29,586 persons compared with February 2025 (-0.7%), the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Wednesday.
For women, the unemployment rate rose to 11.7% from 14.3% in March last year and for men to 6.9% from 8.1%.
The number of unemployed persons amounted to 424,575, decreased by 92,985 persons as compared with March 2024 (-18.0%) and increased by 20,940 persons compared with February 2025 (5.2%).
The number of persons outside the labour force, i.e., persons under the age of 75, that neither work nor look for a job, amounted to 3,053,322, increased by 44,889 persons as compared with March 2024 (1.5%) and by 6,267 persons compared with February 2025 (0.2%).
