SKY Express launches direct Thessaloniki–Düsseldorf route
SKY Express has inaugurated a new direct flight route connecting Thessaloniki with Düsseldorf, marking a significant step in the airline’s European expansion strategy.
During the launch ceremony, SKY Express Chief Commercial Officer Gerasimos Skaltsas described the new route as a “major strategic move” into the important German market and a milestone in the company’s growth. He noted that the connection also enhances the international profile and accessibility of Thessaloniki’s “Macedonia” Airport.
Skaltsas highlighted that SKY Express’s share of total passenger traffic at the airport continues to rise, reflecting strong performance and sustained growth. The airline expects to close 2025 with approximately 5.5 million passengers, a sharp increase from fewer than one million before the pandemic. “We are seeing double-digit growth every year,” he said.
The new Thessaloniki–Düsseldorf service is SKY Express’s second direct international route from Thessaloniki, following the launch of flights to Larnaca in 2022.
The Düsseldorf route will operate three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
