Heating allowance advance to reach over 1 million households
Beneficiaries will be paid 60% of the amount they received last year, while new recipients will receive 50% of their approved allowance, with a minimum payment of €80. In total, 1,230,748 applications were submitted through the myHeating platform of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE).
The heating allowance ranges from €100 to €800 and can reach up to €1,200 in very cold regions. Payments covering fuel purchases made up to November 30, 2025, will be credited by December 23. Purchases made after that date will be reimbursed in installments through May 29, 2026. Additional payments for natural gas and district heating are expected to be completed by July 31, 2026.
For example, a household that received €300 last year will receive an advance of €180 this year, while a new beneficiary entitled to €200 will receive €100.
Allowance amounts vary by region. In central Athens, a household with one child is entitled to €155 for heating oil and €196 for electricity. In Thessaloniki, the amounts rise to €256 and €324, while in colder areas such as Vermio, the allowance reaches €715 for oil and €906 for electricity.
