Aegean Airlines to launch direct Athens-Damascus flights
Aegean Airlines will launch a new direct flight between Athens and Damascus on Dec. 2, expanding its regional network with four weekly services during the winter season.
The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, according to the airline.
Aegean said the new route forms part of its strategy to expand its network and strengthen Greece’s international connectivity while reinforcing Athens’ position as an aviation hub.
Airline eyes North Africa expansion
Aegean also said it is examining further expansion into North Africa.
Direct flights to Tripoli and Benghazi in Libya are scheduled to join the airline’s network from May 2027, subject to the necessary evaluations and procedures.
The planned Libyan routes would further expand Aegean’s connections between Greece and destinations in the southern Mediterranean.
Athens-Dubai service to return
The airline also announced the reinstatement of its direct Athens-Dubai route from Oct. 23.
The additions come as Aegean continues to expand its international network, adding new destinations and restoring previously operated routes.
