Air Cairo launches direct scheduled flights between Athens and Egypt
The airline began operating regular services between Cairo and Athens on July 24, followed by the launch of direct flights between Alexandria and the Greek capital on July 26.
Speaking at an event at Athens International Airport, the airport's Communications and Marketing Director, Ioanna Papadopoulou, said the new routes strengthen air links between the two countries while reflecting their long-standing historical, cultural and economic ties.
Airline plans further expansion
Papadopoulou also announced that Air Cairo plans to expand its Greek network by launching direct scheduled flights from Athens to the Egyptian Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh.
The Air Cairo delegation was led by Chief Commercial Officer Ahmed Aziz, representing Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hussein Sherif.
Delivering a message on behalf of Sherif, Aziz said the launch of the Athens services reaffirmed the airline's commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and Greece and expanding air connectivity to support tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchanges.
He added that the planned Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh routes are expected to further boost inbound tourism by offering European travellers easier access to Egypt's Red Sea destinations.
