Two mosques in Bulgaria to be restored through Turkish-Bulgarian cooperation
A cooperation protocol has been signed between the Directorate General of Foundations (VGM) under the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Grand Mufti’s Office of the Muslims in the Republic of Bulgaria for the restoration of two historic mosques in Bulgaria.
According to a statement from VGM, a protocol ceremony was held for the restoration of the Hz. Ebubekir Mosque in the city of Yambol and the Sari Hüseyin Mosque located in the Provadia district of Varna.
The signing ceremony took place at the Directorate General of Foundations headquarters, coordinated by the Department of Foreign Relations. It was attended by VGM Director General Sinan Aksu and Bulgaria’s Grand Mufti Mustafa Haci.
In his statement, Director General Aksu emphasized that the cooperation extends beyond restoration efforts, aiming to revive the centuries-old heritage and shared memory of the two countries.
“Our primary goal is to begin the restorations of the Sari Hüseyin and Hz. Abu Bakr Mosques promptly and preserve them true to their original form. I hope this initiative will be beneficial for both nations,” Aksu remarked.
