The President of North Macedonia congratulates the Turkish community on the Turkish Education holiday

President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski sent a congratulatory message to the members of the Turkish community in the Republic of North Macedonia on the occasion of 21 December Turkish Language Education Day.

President Pendarovski's message reads as follows:

"Dear Turkish compatriots; I congratulate you on the Turkish Education Day on 21 December. One of the first decisions of ASNOM Macedonia was to make mother tongue education possible for many communities, including Turkish. In 1944, Turkish education, which unleashes the potential of the community, preserves its identity and develops its culture, started at the 'Tefeyyüz' school in Skopje.

Today's holiday has its roots not only in the modern Macedonian state, but also in the modern Turkish state. This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey and the 95th anniversary of the language reforms and the introduction of the new Turkish alphabet, which soon led to mass literacy.

The Turkish community makes a unique contribution to the construction and development of our common Macedonian homeland. Despite the difficulties in education and other fields, members of the Turkish community in North Macedonia make a great contribution in every field from education to health, from art to sports. Therefore, the state should remove all obstacles so that our Turkish compatriots can use this basic human right, the right to education, without any problems.

The Turkish community not only contributes to the Macedonian state with its loyalty, but also has a strong bond with friendly and brotherly Turkey. The fruits of this friendship are excellent bilateral relations and mutual support, numerous investments, joint projects, donations to education, science, health and culture."
