Greece and Bulgaria factors of energy stability in the Balkans
The possibility of expanding the capacity of the Greek-Bulgarian natural gas pipeline (IGB) and the storage of natural gas in the recently commissioned Bulgarian system were discussed at the working dinner hosted on Thursday by Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas, for the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Hristo Alexiev, and the Minister of Energy of Bulgaria, Rosen Hristov.
According to the ministry, "in a warm climate, the historically close and efficient cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector was confirmed. Among the issues discussed was the strengthening of cooperation between Greece and Bulgaria in the field of natural gas and in matters of storage of natural gas reserves".
In addition, the two sides pointed out the multiple benefits of the operation of the Greek-Bulgarian IGB Natural Gas Pipeline for the energy shielding of Greece and Bulgaria. The dinner was also attended by the General Secretary of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Alexandra Sdoukou, the Managing Director of DEPA Commercial, Konstantinos Xifaras, the Managing Director of DESFA, Maria Rita Galli, the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Greece, Valedin Poriazov and high-ranking officials of Bulgargaz and Bulgartransgaz.
