Bulgaria will introduce a vehicle disinfection fee starting September 1, 2024, for all vehicles entering the country through border crossings with Greece, Romania, Serbia, and North Macedonia.
Bulgaria to impose vehicle disinfection fee

The decision comes in response to the detection of contagious diseases in ruminant animals.

According to the new regulations, private passenger vehicles will be required to pay a disinfection fee of 2 euros (approximately 4.00 BGN), while trucks weighing over 3.5 tons will incur a fee of 10.20 euros (approximately 20.00 BGN). A similar measure is already in place at Bulgaria's border crossings with Türkiye.

Until September 1, 2024, vehicles entering Bulgaria from Greece will undergo preventive disinfection free of charge.
