250 million euros spent on 7 elections in Bulgaria

The cost of the elections in Bulgaria, which will go to the polls for the 7th time in 3 years at the end of October, has been announced. 

Approximately 514,716,900 leva (250 million euros) was spent for the election process in the country.

According to the BTA news agency, BGN 65,649,500 (EUR 30 million) was spent in the elections on 4 April 2021, BGN 68,191,500 (EUR 35 million) in the elections on 11 July 2021, and BGN 123,964,200 (EUR 60 million) in the elections on 14 November 2021, as the Presidential and People's Assembly elections were held at the same time.

The 2 October 2022 early general elections cost 71,044,500 leva (35 million euros), while 87,687,800 leva (40 million euros) was spent on the 2 April 2023 early parliamentary elections.  

The total cost of the 9 July 2024 European Parliament deputies and early general elections was announced as 98,179,400 leva (50 million euros).
