Ibrahim Eren will serve as acting president of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union until end of 2023
Ibrahim Eren, chairman and director general of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), was elected acting president of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) on Wednesday.
The Turkish official was chosen to lead the body at its 57th General Assembly, which commenced virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Eren will serve in the capacity until the end of 2023.
With 271 members from 72 countries, ABU is the world’s largest broadcasting union.
TRT’s success and growing influence as a broadcaster in multiple languages played a key role in Eren’s election.
