Fenerbahce on Sunday confirmed the signing of Mesut Ozil from England's Arsenal on a free transfer.
“An agreement has been reached with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of professional footballer Mesut Ozil to our club,“ the Istanbul club said in a statement.
Ozil, a German national of Turkish descent, inked a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Turkish Super Lig club.
The 32-year-old midfielder arrived in Istanbul with a private jet on Jan. 18.
He had three successful seasons with Spanish giants Real Madrid, during which he helped the Los Blancos win a La Liga title, as well as a Spanish Super Cup.
After moving to Arsenal in 2013, Ozil won four FA Cup trophies in London, and produced 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 games.
