A small anti-Muslim protest in downtown Minneapolis ended in chaos on Saturday after counter-protesters chased demonstrators away as they attempted to burn a copy of the Quran, U.S. media reported.

The protest was led by Jake Lang, a participant in the January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot who was later pardoned by President Donald Trump. Lang and a handful of supporters gathered outside City Hall, where he announced plans on social media to burn the Quran and issued inflammatory statements targeting Muslim immigrants and local officials.

The demonstration came amid heightened tensions in the city following recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations and protests over the fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen during an ICE action earlier this month.

Counter-protesters, many already rallying against ICE, confronted Lang’s group, leading to scuffles. Videos circulating online showed Lang being pushed and chased before leaving the area by car. No serious injuries were reported.

Lang has previously attempted similar actions, including a failed Quran-burning incident in Dearborn, Michigan, in 2025. Authorities have not announced any arrests related to Saturday’s protest.
