YTB President Eren: Western Thrace Turks will never bow to systematic pressures
Turks Abroad And Related Communities (YTB) President Abdullah Eren made statements regarding the unfair attitude of Greece in Western Thrace.
Eren emphasized that there are examples of trying to implement this oppressive attitude through education recently: "In an attitude incompatible with Lausanne, Greece continues its systematic pressure on the Western Thrace Turkish Minority through education. Schools were closed in many villages in Western Thrace. The 5-century-old Madrasa-i Hayriye in Gümülcine is also being digested. These pressures must end".
Abdullah Eren underlined that Greece's denial of identity, intervention in the freedom of religious life, and controversial practices regarding the foundations (waqfs) belonging to the minority, and now they have made attempts to disregard the education rights and laws of the Turks, especially Lausanne, which are guaranteed by different issues.
YTB President Abdullah Eren, who also mentioned the fact that Greece had carried out so-called exercises in a civil settlement with its fully equipped commandos in Western Thrace a few days ago said: ''An extremely irrational new sample of attitude. Apart from the media coverage, there were reports of military presence in a few more villages. You know, there is an attack on the cemetery. These are never acceptable. Western Thrace Turks will never bow to all these systematic pressures seen in every field. As President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed, Turkey will never leave alone Turks in Greece and will defend its rights and the law at all times".
