Young performers shine spotlight on Western Thrace at Iskeçe Amphitheater
Talented young actors from the Mucize Theatre, part of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (BTAYTD), captivated audiences with a heartfelt performance on April 4 at the Iskeçe Amphitheater.
The play, titled “We Told Our Story to Ourselves”, portrayed daily life, social relationships, and the rich cultural fabric of Western Thrace through authentic dialogue and vivid performances by students aged 12–13. The production received enthusiastic applause for its energy, creativity, and emotional resonance.
Bringing Local Culture to the Stage
Written by Ayça Peçenik from the BTAYTD Mucize Theatre writing team and adapted and directed by Senemahu Topuz, the play integrated elements of the late local artist Rüştü Eriç, adding historical and cultural depth to the performance.
The audience included prominent figures such as Turkey’s Aykut Ünal and İlayda Ünal, members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board, and representatives of various institutions.
BTAYTD President Zeynep Tevfikoğlu expressed gratitude to the director, technical team, actors, and supportive parents, praising the students’ dedication and professionalism.
A Memorable Ensemble Cast
The production featured a large cast of middle school students whose performances stood out individually and collectively. Young actors included Ahmed Said Ahmetoğlu, Alara Galip, Ali Karadayı, Alperen Murteza, Alya Turut, Ayşe Ahmet Hüseyin, Buğlem Fehmi, Dila Baltacı, Eda Mestan Osman, Enes Hacıoğlu, Eslem Hacı Ahmet, Eymen Mahmut, Eymen Ramadan Hasan, Fatma Çıtak, Halil İsmailoğlu, Kaan Ahmet Hoca, Mehmet Hacı Ahmet, Mediha Çıtak, Merve Halil, Nilda Hacıahmet, Nilsu Yakup, Nisa Saitoğlu, Rüya Kara, Sena Çolak, Sena İsmailko, Umut Kara, and Yağmur Bandak, with Deniz Hacı İbram and Zümra Darmon serving as prompters.
Behind the scenes, the team included Azra Bozoğlu (host), Dallı Çiçekçilik (decor), Bilal Meço (poster design), Öznur Bekir and Naciye Haliloğlu (hair & makeup), Sevgi Kehaya (costume design), Eymen Sunay Hatip (music arrangement), Yiğit Bener Avcı (stage assistant & set), Sabri Hacıibram (sound & lighting), Serkan Hatip (set assistant), Sevcan Hacı Ali (theater supervisor), and Sevtap Hint (coordinator).
The evening concluded with all performers receiving commemorative plaques, marking a memorable celebration of youth, culture, and community spirit.
