Xanthi Turkish Union hosts vibrant traditional culture and arts festival in Gökçeler

The Xanthi Turkish Union successfully held its “Culture and Arts Festival” in the village of Gökçeler on June 14, attracting a large and enthusiastic crowd from the Yaka region and Xanthi.
Supported by the Gökçeler Association and Gökçeler Kızılyıldız (red star) Football Team, the event featured the opening of the “Handmade Crafts Exhibition,” showcasing works created by XTU course students.
XTU President Kerem Abdurahimoğlu thanked all organizers and the welcoming local community. He also reminded families about middle school registration closing on June 20. Mustafa Trampa, Head of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Xanthi Mufti, offered a greeting speech.
Certificates of achievement were awarded to course graduates, while plaques of appreciation were given to supporting local organizations. The program continued with a well-received saz music performance by Batuhan Hasan and his team from the Komotini Turkish Youth Association.
A highlight was the traditional wedding and henna ceremony reenactment performed by İTB folk dance members, earning enthusiastic applause. Additional folk dance performances led by Tülin Hacıhalil and Gökhan Mustafa were also praised.
Notable attendees included Turkiye’s Consul General in Komotini Aykut Ünal, local MPs, political leaders, mayors, and community representatives.
