Women’s book club gathering held at Gümülcine Mosque under Mufti’s initiative
A women-led book club initiative organized by the local mufti’s office continues to bring together members of the Muslim community in Gümülcine, fostering discussion, education, and social engagement.
The latest meeting took place on Monday, May 4, at the Alankuyu Mosque, under the coordination of the Women’s Guidance Team affiliated with the Komotini Elected Mufti’s Office.
Focus on “Companions’ Memories”
During the session, participants discussed the book “Sahabe Hatıraları” (Memories of the Prophet’s Companions), exploring its themes and historical narratives. The discussion was moderated by Hacer Karaali, a preacher and Qur’an course instructor, who provided background on the book and guided the conversation with questions.
Community Engagement and Reflection
Participants actively contributed by sharing reflections on how the lives and experiences of the Prophet Muhammad’s companions resonated with their own daily lives. Attendees highlighted the educational and spiritual value of the discussions.
The gathering concluded with expressions of appreciation from participants, followed by refreshments.
Strengthening Social and Religious Bonds
Organizers say the ongoing book club meetings aim to strengthen community ties among women while promoting religious literacy and cultural continuity within the Muslim minority in Western Thrace.
Such initiatives have become an important platform for dialogue, learning, and community-building in the region.
